We are delighted to present an exceptional opportunity for an experienced hospitality finance officer to join our esteemed client's team, a luxury hotel located in the vibrant South Beach district of Miami. The chosen candidate will be responsible for managing financial reporting, overseeing budgeting processes, and implementing effective expense control measures to ensure the establishment's financial health. This role demands a meticulous and analytical individual who thrives in a dynamic, luxury hospitality environment.

 

Finance Officers handle financial transactions, monitor budgets, and assist in financial analysis. They contribute to financial planning and help ensure financial compliance.

Responsibilities

Finance Officers handle financial transactions and record-keeping. Responsibilities include processing invoices, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling financial statements, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. They play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.

This position involves detailed financial reporting, comprehensive budget management, and stringent expense control to maintain the hotel's fiscal health. The officer will work closely with various departments to ensure financial practices align with the hotel's luxury standards.

  • Conduct monthly financial reporting, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
  • Develop and maintain the annual budget in collaboration with the General Manager and department heads, adjusting forecasts based on operational changes and market trends.
  • Implement and monitor expense control strategies to reduce costs without compromising guest experience or operational quality.
  • Liaise with the sales and marketing teams to analyze financial implications of promotions and campaigns, ensuring they align with budgetary constraints and financial objectives.
  • Oversee the payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate compensation for all staff while maintaining compliance with labor laws and financial regulations.
  • Regularly audit all financial operations, including procurement and vendor contracts, to identify and rectify inefficiencies or discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with the external accounting firm for quarterly and annual audits, providing all necessary documentation and explanations for financial activities.
  • Manage cash flow effectively, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs and investment opportunities.
  • Train and mentor department managers on budgeting and expense management to foster a cost-conscious culture throughout the hotel.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure the best prices and terms for goods and services, enhancing the hotel's profitability.
  • Participate in strategic planning meetings with the hotel's executive team, offering financial insights to guide long-term decision-making and growth strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations, maintaining impeccable financial ethics and standards.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a strong foundation in financial management, demonstrated through relevant educational qualifications and certifications, along with a proven track record of success in financial roles, preferably within a luxury hotel setting.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Finance or Hospitality Management (preferred).

Certification:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) certification.
  • Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE) designation is highly advantageous.
  • Certification in financial modeling and forecasting from a recognized professional body.

Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial management within the hospitality industry, with at least 2 years in a luxury hotel environment.
  • Proficiency in financial software, such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Oracle Hospitality.
  • Strong analytical skills and expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and expense control.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and operations.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with suppliers and vendors.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal financial regulations applicable to the hospitality industry.
  • Exceptional leadership and training abilities, capable of mentoring staff on financial practices.
  • Fluent in English, with proficiency in a second language considered a plus due to the international clientele of the hotel.
