The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the hotel's beverage program, including selection, procurement, and menu design, specifically tailored to our upscale clientele. Responsibilities

This position demands a strategic and creative leader capable of developing a distinctive beverage program that captivates our upscale clientele. From curating an exceptional wine and spirits list to collaborating with the culinary team for perfect pairing menus, the Beverage Director plays a pivotal role. Additionally, the role encompasses managing inventory, overseeing staff training, and executing marketing initiatives to promote the hotel's unique offerings. Leadership in maintaining high standards of service and compliance with health and safety regulations is paramount. The Beverage Director's mission is to ensure that every guest's experience is unparalleled, reflecting the luxury and sophistication that our hotel embodies.

  • Develop and implement an innovative beverage program that aligns with the luxury hotel's standards and appeals to a diverse and upscale clientele.
  • Curate a comprehensive wine and spirits list, ensuring a mix of classic selections and contemporary trends to cater to guests' varied preferences.
  • Conduct monthly market analysis to identify emerging beverage trends and make recommendations for menu updates to keep the hotel's offerings competitive and exciting.
  • Collaborate closely with the culinary team, particularly the Executive Chef, to create pairing menus that enhance both the dining and drinking experience for guests.
  • Oversee the training and development of the beverage service team, ensuring staff are knowledgeable about the hotel's selections and capable of providing expert recommendations.
  • Manage inventory control and cost management strategies to maintain profitability without compromising quality.
  • Organize and host wine tasting events and mixology workshops for guests, enhancing the hotel's reputation as a leader in the beverage industry.
  • Work with the marketing team to promote the hotel's beverage offerings through social media, the hotel's website, and other marketing channels.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations concerning beverage service and storage.
  • Provide exceptional leadership and foster a culture of excellence within the beverage service team, encouraging innovation and a passion for hospitality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution such as Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration or the École hôtelière de Lausanne.
  • Professional certification in wine and spirits, such as the Court of Master Sommeliers (CMS) Advanced Sommelier certification or the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 4 Diploma.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in beverage management within a luxury hotel or high-end restaurant environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful beverage programs that meet the expectations of a discerning clientele.
  • Proven track record in staff training and development, particularly in enhancing team knowledge about wines, spirits, and innovative beverage trends.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, cost management, and profitability strategies specific to the beverage sector of hospitality.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with experience working closely with culinary teams to create cohesive and innovative food and beverage pairings.
  • Exceptional leadership qualities, capable of inspiring and motivating a team to achieve excellence in service and presentation.
  • Fluent in French and English to cater to an international clientele and manage a diverse team.
  • Familiarity with current trends in the beverage industry, including sustainability practices and emerging consumer preferences.
  • Ability to organize and host engaging events, such as wine tastings and mixology workshops, to enhance guest experiences and the hotel's market position.
  • Strong marketing skills, with experience leveraging social media and other digital platforms to promote beverage offerings effectively.
