Job description

An exclusive luxury hotel located near Central Park, New York City is seeking an experienced Chauffeur. This position is pivotal in enhancing the guest experience by providing courteous, prompt, and secure transportation services. The successful applicant will be adept at navigating the bustling streets of New York, have a keen eye for detail in vehicle maintenance, and demonstrate the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism. Duties include airport transfers, short distance errands, and bespoke tours around the city. Responsibilities

  • Navigating the bustling streets of New York to ensure timely and safe transportation of guests to and from various destinations, including airports, restaurants, and landmarks.
  • Conducting regular vehicle maintenance checks and coordinating with the hotel's maintenance team to ensure the vehicle is in pristine condition at all times.
  • Collaborating closely with the concierge and front desk staff to schedule daily transportation requests and adapt to any last-minute changes or guest needs.
  • Providing bespoke tours around New York City for guests, tailored to their interests and preferences, ensuring a unique and memorable experience.
  • Ensuring the highest level of confidentiality and discretion with all guest interactions, maintaining privacy and trust.
  • Assisting with luggage and personal items, ensuring safe loading and unloading from the vehicle.
  • Keeping an accurate log of travel itineraries, distances, and maintenance records for administrative purposes and expense tracking.
  • Staying informed about current traffic patterns, road closures, and events in New York City to plan the most efficient routes.
  • Offering recommendations and insights about the city to guests, enhancing their overall experience and satisfaction with the hotel's services.
  • Participating in monthly safety and service training sessions to stay updated on best practices in luxury hospitality and transportation services.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid New York State Class E driver's license or a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a professional chauffeur or in a similar role, preferably within the luxury hospitality industry.
  • A clean driving record, free of any major violations or accidents within the last five years.
  • Completion of a defensive driving course from an accredited institution, such as the National Safety Council or the American Safety Council.
  • Excellent knowledge of New York City's geography, including major routes, landmarks, and traffic patterns.
  • Proficiency in English; additional language skills are a plus to accommodate international guests.
  • High school diploma required; further education or training in hospitality management from institutions like the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration or the New York University Tisch Center for Hospitality is highly regarded.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR from recognized organizations such as the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with discretion and maintain confidentiality for high-profile guests.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of providing high-quality customer service and engaging with guests from diverse backgrounds.
  • Flexibility with work hours, including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the transportation needs of the hotel's guests.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor, aligning with the luxury standards of the hotel.
  • Familiarity with vehicle maintenance and care, ensuring the hotel's transportation services are always presented at their best.
