Job description

We are delighted to present a unique job opportunity on behalf of our distinguished client, a luxury hotel situated in the prestigious 8th arrondissement of Paris. We are in search of a dedicated Hotel Doorman who will be the first point of contact for our esteemed guests, ensuring a memorable welcome and departure experience. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of hospitality, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work gracefully under pressure. This role involves greeting guests, handling luggage with care, and providing general assistance to ensure a seamless stay for all visitors.

Responsibilities

Doormen play a role in providing security and a welcoming atmosphere in establishments such as hotels or upscale venues. Responsibilities include greeting guests, opening doors, assisting with luggage, managing access control, and ensuring the safety and comfort of patrons. Doormen may also provide information, handle guest inquiries, and collaborate with other staff members to maintain a smooth operation.

  • Greeting guests warmly upon their arrival and providing a fond farewell as they depart, ensuring a lasting impression of the hotel's commitment to excellence.
  • Managing the flow of the entrance area efficiently, coordinating with the valet service to ensure smooth arrival and departure experiences for guests.
  • Assisting guests with their luggage, ensuring careful handling and prompt delivery to their rooms or storage as required.
  • Providing general assistance and information to guests, including directions, information about local attractions, and arranging transportation upon request.
  • Collaborating closely with the concierge and front desk teams to communicate guest needs and preferences, enhancing the overall guest experience.
  • Maintaining a vigilant watch over the hotel entrance for security purposes, reporting any suspicious activities or safety concerns to hotel security immediately.
  • Overseeing the cleanliness and presentation of the entrance area, coordinating with housekeeping and maintenance staff to address any issues promptly.
  • Participating in monthly training sessions focused on customer service excellence and security procedures to continually improve skills and knowledge.
  • Assisting in the coordination of guest arrivals and departures for special events hosted by the hotel, ensuring seamless logistics for high-profile guests.
  • Serving as an ambassador for the hotel, embodying its values and standards of luxury and hospitality in every interaction with guests and team members.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; further education in hospitality or customer service is a plus.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within the luxury hospitality sector.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR from recognized organizations such as the American Red Cross or St. John Ambulance.
  • Fluent in French and English; additional languages are highly advantageous.
  • Completion of a customer service training program, such as those offered by the Institute of Hospitality or the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle luggage with care and efficiency.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with guests and team members.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the capacity to address and resolve guest issues promptly and satisfactorily.
  • Impeccable personal presentation and a friendly, welcoming demeanor.
  • Familiarity with the Paris area, including knowledge of local attractions, dining, and transportation options.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and nights as required by the hotel's operational needs.
