A prestigious luxury hotel situated in the heart of New York City near Central Park, is seeking a dedicated Hotel Facility Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all hotel operations run seamlessly, including maintenance, security, and housekeeping departments. With a focus on excellence, the Facility Manager will also spearhead the implementation and maintenance of sustainability practices to enhance the hotel's eco-friendly commitment. This role demands a proactive leader with a keen eye for detail and a passion for providing exceptional guest experiences.

Facilities Managers oversee the maintenance and operations of physical spaces, managing facilities staff, and ensuring a safe and functional environment.

Responsibilities

The role involves implementing and maintaining sustainability practices within the hotel's operations. The Facility Manager will act as a leader, ensuring all departments work cohesively to provide an exceptional experience for guests.

  • Conducting daily inspections of the hotel's premises to ensure all areas meet the luxury standards and addressing any issues immediately.
  • Leading weekly meetings with the heads of maintenance, security, and housekeeping departments to coordinate operations and discuss ongoing projects or concerns.
  • Collaborating with the sustainability coordinator on a monthly basis to develop and implement eco-friendly practices and initiatives.
  • Managing the hotel's facility management budget, including approving expenditures and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Overseeing the maintenance team to ensure all equipment and facilities are in perfect condition, scheduling regular maintenance, and managing any necessary repairs or upgrades.
  • Working closely with the security team to develop and maintain safety protocols for both guests and staff, including emergency response plans.
  • Directing the housekeeping department to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and luxury across all guest rooms and public areas.
  • Implementing new technologies or systems to improve facility efficiency and guest satisfaction, such as energy-saving solutions or automated systems.
  • Liaising with external contractors and service providers, ensuring all external work meets the hotel's standards and is completed within budget and on time.
  • Preparing monthly reports for the hotel management on the status of the facilities, including any challenges faced and solutions implemented.
  • Organizing and leading training sessions for facility staff on best practices, sustainability, and customer service excellence.

 

Facilities Managers oversee the maintenance and functionality of buildings and facilities. Responsibilities include managing maintenance staff, developing maintenance schedules, overseeing repairs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and managing budgets for facility-related expenses. They play a crucial role in creating a safe and efficient working environment and may also be involved in planning and executing facility improvement projects.

Requirements

Requirements include:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certification in Facility Management (e.g., Certified Facility Manager (CFM) from the International Facility Management Association (IFMA)) or a relevant sustainability certification (e.g., LEED Green Associate).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in facility management, with at least 2 years in a managerial role within the hospitality industry, preferably in luxury hotels.
  • Proven track record of managing budgets, with strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing sustainability practices and eco-friendly initiatives within a business.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience in training and motivating a diverse team.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to dealing with issues and challenges.
  • Knowledge of current health and safety regulations and best practices in the hospitality industry.
  • Proficiency in facility management software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, staff, and external contractors.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet the demands of the hotel.
