Our client operates a luxury resort located in the heart of Dubai's exclusive Palm Jumeirah area. We are currently seeking a dedicated resort groundskeeper to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the resort's gardens and outdoor areas to the highest standards, ensuring an impeccable appearance at all times. Tasks include routine landscaping, garden maintenance, implementing sustainable gardening practices, and contributing to the overall guest experience by enhancing the beauty and tranquility of the resort's outdoor spaces. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a passion for horticulture, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
Groundskeepers maintain the landscaping and outdoor areas of properties. Responsibilities include mowing lawns, trimming hedges, planting flowers, removing debris, and ensuring the overall aesthetic appeal of the grounds. They may also be responsible for basic maintenance tasks and collaborating with property management to address landscaping needs. Groundskeepers play a key role in creating a visually appealing and well-maintained outdoor environment.
Responsibilities for the position include:
- Perform daily inspections and maintenance of garden areas, lawns, and pathways to ensure they are litter-free and well-groomed.
- Weekly scheduling of irrigation systems to optimize water usage and maintain plant health, adjusting as necessary based on weather conditions.
- Monthly coordination with the facilities management team to plan and execute landscape improvement projects.
- Apply eco-friendly and sustainable gardening techniques to enhance biodiversity and reduce the resort's environmental footprint.
- Collaborate with the resort's hospitality team to prepare outdoor spaces for events, ensuring all landscaping complements the luxury aesthetic.
- Conduct regular pruning, trimming, and fertilization of plants and trees to maintain health and appearance.
- Work with external landscaping contractors on major redesigns or installations, ensuring that all work meets the resort's high standards.
- Manage inventory of gardening supplies and equipment, including ordering and maintenance, to ensure availability and operational readiness.
- Respond to guest inquiries regarding the gardens and outdoor areas, providing insightful and engaging information about the resort's horticultural practices.
- Monitor and treat plant diseases and pest infestations to prevent spread and damage to landscaping.
Requirements
Previous experience in groundskeeping; knowledge of landscaping tools and techniques; physical stamina; attention to detail.
Passion for horticulture, knowledge of sustainable practices, and the ability to work well within a team are essential. The ideal candidate will bring expertise and dedication to maintaining the resort's prestigious appearance.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; further education in Horticulture or Landscape Design is highly preferred.
Certification:
- Certified Landscape Technician (CLT) - preferred.
- Certified Horticulture Professional (CHP) or equivalent - advantageous.
- Sustainable Gardening Certification or similar credentials focusing on eco-friendly practices.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within a luxury hotel or resort environment.
- Proficiency in the use and maintenance of landscaping equipment and tools.
- Solid understanding of irrigation systems, including design, operation, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of plant care, pest management, and garden design principles.
- Experience in implementing sustainable and eco-friendly gardening practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet the resort's operational needs.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with team members and guests.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform labor-intensive tasks under various weather conditions.
- Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus, reflecting Dubai's international guest base.
