Job description
A prestigious hotel situated near Central Park in New York City is currently recruiting for a part-time maintenance worker. This position is key to ensuring the hotel premises remain impeccable and guest experiences are uninterrupted by facility-related issues. Responsibilities include minor repairs, maintaining the exterior property appearance, and assisting with the setup of event spaces. The successful applicant will have a background in general maintenance, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Conduct minor repairs throughout the hotel, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.
- Maintain the exterior appearance of the property, ensuring landscaping and façade are in pristine condition.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of event spaces, coordinating with the events team to meet specific requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on hotel equipment and systems to prevent breakdowns and ensure efficiency.
- Collaborate with housekeeping and front desk staff to address and resolve guest issues related to facility maintenance promptly.
- Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, placing orders as necessary to ensure availability.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular inspections and risk assessments.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a maintenance role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Flexibility to work part-time hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in maintenance fields are a plus.
