Job description
Our client, a prestigious five-star hotel located in Dubai, is currently seeking a full-time sommelier. This exceptional role requires an individual with a profound knowledge of wines, a passion for providing luxurious dining experiences, and the ability to educate and entertain guests about wine selections. The ideal candidate will have experience working in fine dining environments and possess certifications in wine education.
Responsibilities
- Curate and manage the hotel's wine selection, ensuring a wide range of quality wines that cater to diverse guest preferences and dining experiences.
- Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions for guests, enhancing their dining experience with expert knowledge and recommendations.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to pair wines with menu items, creating harmonious dining experiences.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of wine trends, new releases, and regional specialties to keep the wine list innovative and appealing.
- Manage wine inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storage, ensuring optimal conditions for wine preservation.
- Train restaurant and bar staff on wine knowledge and proper service techniques.
- Address guest inquiries and provide personalized wine selection assistance.
- Organize special wine events or promotions in collaboration with the marketing team to attract and engage guests.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a sommelier in a fine dining establishment or luxury hotel.
- Advanced knowledge of wine, including wine regions, grape varieties, and wine production processes.
- Certification from a recognized wine education program (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate guests.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by hotel operations.
