Job description
We are currently recruiting for an experienced accountant on behalf of our client, a leading luxury retail brand with a flagship store in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the store, including sales analysis, inventory management, and financial forecasting. This role requires a meticulous individual with a proven track record in retail accounting, ready to drive financial success in a high-end retail setting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily financial transactions, including sales transactions, expenses, and cash flow management.
- Conduct monthly inventory audits and collaborate closely with the store's merchandise manager to ensure accurate stock levels and valuation.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and forecasts, providing insights into sales trends and financial health.
- Work with the store manager to develop and monitor the annual budget, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Liaise with external auditors during annual audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard the store's assets.
- Coordinate with the HR department to process payroll accurately and on time.
- Analyze financial data to support strategic decision-making and report directly to the regional financial director.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting, with at least 1 year in the retail sector, preferably in luxury retail.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong understanding of retail financial metrics and inventory management.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with senior management.
- Knowledge of UK financial regulations and tax laws.
